Biotech Incubators-Parks in India

Biotech Incubator and Park offers wet/dry lab, office space and all the other basic facilities needed to start/run any biotech business successfully. One can start business from here, as all the facilities concerned with Production and R&D activities like Road and Transportation, 24 hr water supply, power supply, Telecom services; conferences, living and guest rooms are provided with minimum charges. Following are the list of such biotech parks and incubators of India. Some of them are already operational while some are under construction with many are yet to kick off.  

• Agri-Science Park@ICRISAT, Patancheru, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. Situated in the campus of ICRISAT.

• Ansals API Biotech Park, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Operational.

• Bangalore Helix, Electronic city, Bangalore, Karnataka. The total investment of the Park is Rs. 350 crore and is spread over 106 acres at the Electronics City.

• Bhiwadi Biotech Park, Rajasthan. Proposed.

• Biotech Incubator, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. It is India’s first full-fledged biotechnology incubator. The Rs 27-crore initiative is jointly undertaken by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), the Andhra Pradesh Government and other concerned science departments.

• Biotech Park, Bangalore, Karnataka.

• Biotech Park, Jalna, Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Set by Wockhardt. It consists of area-107 hectare land. It will have manufacturing facilities for active pharmaceutical ingredients, biopharmaceuticals, R&D Centre, effluent treatment plant, a corporate office, warehouse and a residential and recreational complex. It will provide employment to an estimated 2000 people.

• Biotech Park, Konark, Chandrabhaga, Orissa. Proposed plan.

• Biotech Park, Savli, Vadodara, Gujarat. It is set up by Akruti Nirman & TCG.

• Boranda Biotech Park, Jodhpur, Rajasthan. It is still proposed.

• Golden Jubilee Biotech Park for Women Society, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Dealing with Agri-biotech business.

• Guwahati Biotech Park, Guwahati, Assam. Proposed.

• Herbal Pharma Biotech Park, Betma, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Proposed.

• ICICI Knowledge Park, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. Mainly deals with Pharma biotech area.

• International Biotech Park, Hinjawadi, Pune, Maharashtra. Mainly deals with Pharma biotech area.

• Jogindernagar Biotech Park, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Proposed.

• Kinfra Bio Park, Trivandrum, Kerala. Proposed.

• Kinfra Biotech Park, Kalamassery, Kochi, Kerala. Proposed.

• Lucknow Biotech Park, Uttar Pradesh. Focused on Agriculture biotech and Pharma biotech.

• Manesar Biotech Park, Gurgaon, Haryana. Proposed.

• Marine Biotech Park, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Andhra govt. has set it up.

• Orissa Biotech Park,   Patrapada, Bhubaneshwar, Orissa. Proposed.

• Pantnagar Biotech Park, Haldi, Uttaranchal. Proposed.

• Peninsula Biotech Park, Goa. Proposed.

• Pharma Park, Vizag, Andhra Pradesh.

• Punjab Biotechnology Park Ltd. (PBPL), Dera Bassi, Chandigarh, Punjab. www.punjabbiotechpark.org. It focuses on technology transfer, collaborative research, exchange of scientific manpower and company to company business relationship in agricultural & environmental biotechnology and Bio-processing. It has all the basic facilities of water, electricity, with tax exemption office, R&D lab, sewage treatment facility etc.

• Shapoorji Pallonji biotech park (SPBP), Shamirpet, Hyderabad. www.spbp.co.in.  The park is a joint venture between the government of Andhra Pradesh and Shapoorji Pallonji Co Pvt Ltd. It is spread over 300 acres.  It has state of the art infrastructure for life science research, particularly for bio-pharmaceuticals, training and manufacturing activities, with all the other basic facilities of road, power, space, telecom etc. It has attracted more than 15 corporate clients to set up their R&D centres.

• Sitapura Biotech Park, Jaipur, Rajasthan.

• Solan Biotech Park, Himachal Pradesh. Proposed

• TICEL Bio Park, Taramani, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. www.ticelbiopark.com. TICEL Bio Park Ltd was developed in technical collaboration with Cornell University, USA at Chennai. It has complete lab space for Biotech activities.
